While I was on my way home after my classes, one of the posts on the school’s bulletin caught my attention. It was the 2nd Gokongwei Brothers Foundation (China) Scholarship Program for the year 2009. This leadership development program is a project of the said foundation is intended for young Filipino leaders—outstanding college graduates and promising professionals—who recognize the growing importance of China and are willing to spend ten (10) months of study as scholars.Remember, this scholarship is for young talented Filipinos below 30 at the time of application.

The program includes:

1.Chinese Language (Mandarin)

2.Chinese Culture (e.g government, history, arts, etc.)

3.Other development-related fields (e.g economics, political science, etc.)

Privileges for the deserving scholar would be:

1.Full tuition fees

2.Monthly living allowance

3.Medical Insurance

4.Travel expenses

For those who are interested to go to China with the aid of this scholarship, sit back, relax and see first if you’re qualified.

1.A Filipino citizen;

2.A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Social Sciences, Business, Humanities,

Management, Education or similar fields with superior academic record;

3.At least one (1) year full-time professional working experience;

4.Proficiency in oral and written English;

5.Must not be more than thirty (30) years old at the time of application; and

6.Should be able to present and provide clear post return plans that will benefit the home country.

The deadline of submission will be on March 20, 2009.
