Meagan, my laptop, with all the necessary cords so she can function well. Poor little darling..hehe. Just imagine how hard it is not to hear the sounds when she plays my EFY songs.
Since it's glossy, I'm afraid to see scratches on my little Meagan so I covered it with Winnie The Pooh laptop cover.
Yesterday in the afternoon I was so exhausted that I came across Windows Vista's Disk Deframenter and without thinking again, clicked on the "Defragment Now..." button. What brought me to that area of the Control Panel was because I wanted to clear some space on my hard drive.
Wikipedia defined defragmentation as a process that reduces the amount of fragmentation in file systems. It does this by physically organizing the contents of the disk to store the pieces of each file close together and contiguously. It also attempts to create larger regions of free space using compaction to impede the return of fragmentation. Some defragmenters also try to keep smaller files within a single directory together, as they are often accessed in sequence.
Sounds good right? It will maximize the space in your disk by allocating and compacting files. However, when I turned Meagan on (that's the name of my laptop) later in the evening, I could no longer hear any sound! Whooa! That freaked me out! I could no longer listen to YouTube songs, training videos and other things I need to. I could no longer listen to EFY songs I just downloaded and it seemed to me the end of my music world.
I didn't sleep until I was able to figure it out. Actually, I texted my friends to help me out. Thank God I have computer savvier than I am, friends..hehe. It turned out that I only needed to reinstall the Compaq CQ40 313TU IDT High-Definition Audio CODEC Driver. When I reboot it, I was really nervous that I have to visit the store where I bought Meagan. But there she is, graciously playing the EFY songs I always like to listen to. So guys, be careful with what you click because sometimes instead of maximizing or optimizing the functions in your computer, it would only hinder you from using it. It's always good to blog with music on the background, right?
